How this site is put together.
The tools matter, but the choices behind them matter more. Here is what runs the site and why it works the way it does.
My own VPS
It runs in a Docker container on a Hostinger VPS. Traefik handles HTTPS and sends traffic to the site. Posts and sessions survive a container replacement.
Four themes
Modern is the default. Amber DOS, Green DOS, and XTree are there because those old interfaces helped shape how I learned to use a computer.
Readable by design
The site supports keyboards, visible focus states, a skip link, responsive layouts, and reduced-motion preferences. The retro details should never make the site harder to use.
Files I can inspect
Notebook entries are Markdown files. The site also publishes RSS, a sitemap, structured data, a security contact, and a small map for visiting agents.
AI helped
I used AI tools during the design and build. I chose what stayed, reviewed the work, and remain responsible for what the site says and does.
